This is from the same spot as yesterday, through the magic of a telephoto lens. The skyline of Omaha is rather hazy, as the day was hot, humid and we are peering through all that evaporating floodwater. The grassy area with roads is Eppley Airfield. It is functioning, but there are several pumps that have been successfully pumping water off the fields and back into the River. Until this flood, I had no idea we had such an extensive levy system along the Missouri. Omaha's levies are holding, thanks to volunteers who filled sandbags to strengthen the levees. Other areas have not been so lucky. The eventual cleanup and rebuilding will be extensive and costly.
