Ferns during rain

Posted by karla (Omaha, United States) on 7 September 2011 in Plant & Nature and Portfolio.

The rain stopped for now and we are having a series of lovely cool, sunny, invigorating days. Not so perfect for ripening tomatoes, but quite perfect for getting some inside wall-painting done over the next few weeks. I think I can start posting more regularly now, with the exception of moments when my fingers have wall paint on them. During all this time I was occasionally in the yard taking pictures--it's sort of compulsive. This fern is growing in my garden along a very low rocky protrusion that I put in place myself years ago with some free rocks from a friend. We don't have such things as rocky protrusions around here. Clay chunks that pretend to be rocks, yes. Real rocks, no, unless we bring and arrange them ourselves. We have had a lot of wildlife this year, due in part to the copious and consistent rainfall. I will eventually post some pictures of the more ferocious visitors.

Thank you for visiting! Your comments and suggestions for improvement are very much appreciated.

Ahh, this looks so lovely and WET. We are so dry, and having fires everywhere. Send us some of this rain! ;-)

@B. Thomas: Yes, I have been reading about the horrendous drought there. I and so many others commiserate, and wish some of this water could be sent your direction! The dryness we are having now (Sept 28) is allowing even the high ground farms to dry out, finally, to allow harvesting. It's been a wet, wet spring and summer. I hope there are signs that your drought is diminishing.

How fresh and beautiful. Green is believed to be the color of truth, and also the color of healing. I believe it! Lovely frame.

@Twojays: Thank you for your beautiful comment! I believe so, also. In fact, I think recent research may be proving how important nature/color of green is to the human spirit.
