Last leaves

Posted by karla (Omaha, United States) on 6 November 2011 in Plant & Nature and Portfolio.

So here I was so focused mentally on the red leaves of the Virginia creeper vine that I forgot about the yellow redbud leaves. That is why the only yellow leaf in focus is mostly "falling" out of the frame. :D Boosted the blue a bit, although I think the polarizing filter did some good here.

@L'Angevine: Merci! I wanted the contrast of that yellow and orangy red against the deep blue. Thank you for stopping by and commenting! :)

Jim Wilson from Malvern, Pennsylvania, United States

Lovely color combinations. Good work.

@Jim Wilson: Thanks, Jim! Thanks for the visit and your comment! Odd, isn't it, how sometimes right in your own back yard, in this case behind the garage, one finds these little vignettes. Your own "backyard" is a beautiful part of the country. :)

Maria from California, United States

a nice combination of colors Karla

@Maria: Thanks, Maria. When I saw it, I was a bit excited by the color combination. Which is why that lower leaf got in there. I could photoshop it out.

Twojays from Montana, United States

I love the good balance of simple primaries and you have done so here especially with the branches cutting up the intensity of blue, I think. Nice shot.

@Twojays: Thanks very much for the specifics!! It seemed natural to deepen that sky. Sometimes polarizer filters give too much blue. This time it felt right to try for dramatic. :)

Julie L. Brown from Indianapolis, Indiana, United States

The brilliant blue sky makes a nice backdrop for the colorful leaves. Our eyes just love blues like this!

@Julie L. Brown: Thanks, Julie, for this comment. I agree...blues and certain greens are so uplifting!

Jason Politte from Conway, AR, United States

Fantastic combination of colors here! Your Redbud leaves sure go yellow up there - here, ours just kind of turn yellow with large brown spots. Wonderful shot!

@Jason Politte: Awwww....well, sometimes we get those spots here, too. It seems to depend a little on weather---hailstorms, wind, rain and humidity, and also insect damage. The leaves that are more protected beneath the larger, higher branches might last better than others.
