Spathiphyllum, peace lily 2

Posted by karla (Omaha, United States) on 23 January 2012 in Plant & Nature and Portfolio.

Spathiphyllum is a tropical plant that grows in greenhouses and homes. There are many varieties and cultivars. It's a graceful plant with glossy, dark green leaves, and flowers in the form of "spaths" [shown here]. Because it grows and blooms well in low to bright light, this is one of the more popular houseplants. It's definitely popular with me!

Denny Jump Photo from Easton, PA, United States

In my house, this would be referred-to as "The plant, formerly known as spathiphyllum"...But in your image it is terrific..Love the sepia tone ;-)

23 Jan 2012 8:17pm

@Denny Jump Photo: LOL I understand. I had to look up the name again, to make sure I had the spelling right, but it also took a bit to remember the botanical name in the first place. Thank goodness for facts on the Internet.
